UAE Ambassador Inspires Students at Mount Kigali University
Mount Kigali University, June 13, 2024 - Excitement filled Mount Kigali University as His Excellency Hazza Mohammed Falah Kharsan Alqahtani, the UAE Ambassador to Rwanda, visited. This visit was important, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and youth empowerment.
The event, "Kigali in the Morning," was led by Mr. Jesse Maxwell Kiyingi and started with a campus tour. Dr. Eugenia Nkechi Irechukwu, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and Research Affairs, welcomed everyone and talked about the importance of working together with people from different cultures.
Ambassador Hazza Mohammed gave an inspiring speech. He encouraged students to look for job opportunities in the UAE and emphasized working together. He said, “As you go through your studies, remember that your education is more than just what you learn in the classroom. Take every chance to learn new things.”
The highlight of the visit was recognizing student projects. Mugisha Junior Fredy's team impressed with their "Building a Greener Tomorrow" project, which focused on waste management solutions like recycling and community involvement. Another group’s "Smart Homes" project, featuring voice recognition technology, won the competition.
In a special ceremony, Ambassador Hazza Mohammed presented awards to deserving students. Novella Uwase Karangwa, from the Department of Mass Media and Communication Studies, was honored as the best performer for her hard work.
The event ended with a group photo with the ambassador and university lecturers, making it a memorable day for Mount Kigali University. The visit strengthened the connection between the UAE and Rwanda and created new opportunities for the students' academic and professional growth.
